About George Ostace
Ph.D. Chemical Engineer passionate about solving technical and business problems using mathematical modeling, simulation, and numerical optimization. I have over ten years of experience developing and deploying data-driven and physics-based mathematical models in industrial and academic settings. I have worked on a wide variety of problems, such as: • Steady-state and dynamic modeling and simulation using computational platforms and programming languages Matlab/Simulink, Python, and C/C++. • Formulated and solved large-scale optimization models primarily for parameter and/or state estimation, advanced process control, reactor design using algebraic modeling platforms Pyomo or AMPL, and IPOPT, BARON solvers. • Developed and implemented Fault Detection Algorithms (FDA) based on multivariate statistical models such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Independent Component Analysis (ICA), and Machine Learning (ML) models. I have worked with different technologies, such as ethanol dehydration to bio-ethylene, sugar to bio-ethylene glycol, Spheripol PP, Unipol PP, Biological Wastewater Treatment (e.g, MLE, AAO), and plastic recycling.
