Responsibilities:Serve as the primary tax lead for the organization, overseeing sales, use, CAT, and state-level compliance across the company’s waste management operations spanning 30+ states.Review and approve invoices to ensure proper tax treatment, interpret and apply multi-state tax laws, and maintain full compliance with all applicable state and local regulations.Prepare, file, and reconcile sales and use tax returns, including Ohio CAT filings, while managing audits, notices, and ongoing compliance requirements.Manage all company-wide licenses and registrations, ensuring timely filings, renewals, and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.Act in a functional Tax Manager capacity, partnering with leadership to mitigate risk, improve compliance processes, and maintain accurate tax reporting.Play a key role as a Cost Accountant for the hospitality and resort operations, reviewing food, beverage, and operating costs across multiple properties.Collaborate with department leaders to identify cost-saving opportunities, analyze margins, and lead initiatives focused on improving profitability and cost control.Oversee inventory management company-wide, ensuring accurate counts, valuation, and alignment with monthly COGS targets.Perform month-end close activities including account reconciliations, balance sheet preparation, intercompany reconciliations, and variance analysis.Ensure all entities are closed accurately and on time, with reliable financials that support management decision-making.Support broader accounting functions typical of a staff accountant role, including journal entries, reporting, and cross-functional financial support.
