About George Jones

Senior Counsel in the Washington, D.C, office of Sidley Austin LLP. Today, most of my practice focuses on advising law firms and in-house law departments on questions of professional responsibility, including state rules of professional conduct and federal reporting obligations prescribed by the Securities and Exchange Commission pursuant to § 307 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. I have represented clients in complex commercial and regulatory litigation, involving a wide variety of substantive areas, including antitrust, contracts, employment discrimination, energy, environmental law, fair lending, labor, healthcare policy and products liability. I\'ve handled internal corporate investigations of employee fraud and embezzlement, and related civil and administrative proceedings. In addition to federal and state court proceedings and administrative proceedings, I\'ve participated in alternative dispute resolution proceedings, as counsel to a party or as an arbitrator or mediator. Prior to joining the firm, I clerked for Judge Philip W. Tone on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. I was an Assistant to the Solicitor General of the United States for two years, and argued five cases on behalf of the federal government in the United States Supreme Court.
