ABOUT GEORGE ERB
George Erb is a retired journalist and educator who is secretary for the Washington Coalition for Open Government, a nonpartisan, nonprofit advocate for public records, open meetings and informed citizens. He is also on the board of the Washington Newspaper Publishers Foundation. Between 2014 and 2023 Erb was an adjunct instructor of journalism at Western Washington University, where he taught newswriting, reporting and media law. During this time he was a contributor to The Seattle Times. For more than 40 years Erb worked as a reporter and editor at daily and weekly newspapers in Washington state, including the Peninsula Daily News in Port Angeles and the Puget Sound Business Journal in Seattle. During his time as editor of the PSBJ, the business weekly won numerous national awards and was a runner-up for a Pulitzer prize. Erb has a bachelor\'s degree in history from Hanover College and a master\'s degree in journalism from the University of Oregon.
