Contributing to the delivery of a joined-up spatial planning service that strives to grow the economy,reduce inequality, and build a sustainable future. A particular focus is on embeddingthe principles and practices of Active Calderdale across spatial planning and related activities byraising the standard of urban design and masterplanning.Influencing and contributing to the design and masterplanning of developments to ensure thatmaximum opportunities are exploited to increase physical activity levels. The post holder willalso provide advice on Council led schemes outside the planning process (for exampletransport schemes constructed under permitted development rights).Developing and influencing planning policy and guidance to ensure that significant weight isattached to healthy and inclusive design.Attending pre-application/planning application meetings with developers and their design andplanning teams together with the Council’s project team.Provision of a constructive urban design critique to guide developers toward the highest qualitydevelopment and place-making, helping Planning Officers and Planning Committee assess thequality of development proposals with a particular focus on health and well-being, healthinequalities, and inclusion.Providing particular support in terms of the implementation of the Council’s Placemaking andDesign SPD.Lead on up-skilling Officers and Members to deliver positive change through the spatialplanning process.Ensure that the necessary guidance and other resources are available to developers andplanning applicants to secure healthy and inclusive design.
