Developing manufacturing equipment technology from ideation to execution, providing manufacturing insights during the R1 Gen 2 and R2 product definition phases, and working closely with Rivian design engineering, NPI (New Product Introduction), to take R1 Gen 2 and R2 product design from their initial concept through prototype development and into full production• Coaching and mentoring Rivian manufacturing engineers, and R2 product engineering teams on DFM principles, to improve DFM across the company, particularly in aspects relating to product optimization with respect to general assembly equipment. • Effectively managing internal and external equipment suppliers to source, design, develop, fabricate, install and safely commission general assembly process equipment, ensuring successful and on time integration into Rivian’s assembly lines.• Working cross-functionally, while leading and overseeing technical efforts of teams, to build and improve cross functional working relationships and processes involved in specifying and developing general assembly process equipment from concept to launch.• Utilizing equipment technical design skills and analytical problem-solving skills, to initiate and lead various cross functional design reviews across multiple production lines, for over 100 R2 General assembly equipment applications on the upcoming R2 Launch. • Utilizing 3D modeling and simulation techniques to validate equipment designs, while training employees on assembly equipment and establishing documented best practices for their effective use, as they are deployed in Rivian’s general assembly shops.• Working closely with Rivian’s production and operation teams to ramp up assembly lines, addressing technical issues as they arise, and optimizing processes until assembly lines run at the desired rate, safely and efficiently.
