About Geoffrey Lowman
I am currently Senior Staff NGS Application Manager at Ultima Genomics. Previously, I led research groups both at Element Biosciences and in the Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing Division at Thermo Fisher Scientific. I began my industry career as a Scientist in the Sequencing Development group at Helicos Biosciences Corporation in Cambridge, MA. My experience in NGS was preceded by my training as a physical chemist. I have experience in a broad range of scientific disciplines from optics, instrumentation design, and material science to assay development and commercial product development. I pride myself on my ability to work with customers and I love to interact with my fellow scientists and present at conferences. My career has spanned postdoctoral appointments in academia at MIT and the National Institute of Standards and Technology as an NRC fellow. I earned a PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and my BA from the University of Oregon, where I graduated from the Robert D.
