CommonLit delivers high-quality, free instructional materials to support literacy development for students in grades 3-12. Our program has served over 30 million students, and continues to grow. Things I\'ve worked on at CommonLit:• managed and expanded CommonLit\'s engineering team through a period of dramatic growth as we went from 1m registered users to over 30m accounts• built a high-trust team with excellent retention and strong career development practices• developed a new deployment process to reduce downtime and enable shipment of new features several times a day rather than several times a week• overhauled CommonLit\'s automated testing to provide faster feedback with stronger signal and more reliable tests• implemented a canary testing system to give extra confidence on deployments• prepared CommonLit\'s infrastructure and engineering practices to get our first SOC2 audit• advocated for and sponsored CommonLit\'s push to be accessible to students who use assistive technology• improved application performance to help our application increase our active user population by 10x while achieving faster response times• migrated CommonLit to a new hosting environment on AWS with zero downtime
