ABOUT GEOFF BROWN

Currently working onsite in a busy established Hamilton architecture practice preparing architectural drawings for a new car dealership in Archicad. Also recently assisted on two residential additions projects in Revit. My design philosophy centres on the belief that exceptional architecture emerges from rigorous contextual analysis and collaborative exploration of client aspirations. Integrating both visionary and pragmatic thinking, I create spatial solutions that contribute meaningfully to the built environment through considered material palettes, environmental responsiveness, and operational efficiency. I am committed to delivering innovative design solutions that maximise value and reduce environmental impact while respecting project parameters and budget, acknowledging the honour it is to care for and guide the retelling of the client’s story. Whether leading collaborative teams or working independently, I bring creativity, integrity, and strategic thinking, strong communication skills and attention to detail to every project. As a design professional, I maintain a professional standard rooted in my passion for architecture’s transformative potential in shaping human experience.Over 37 years of practice, I have developed expertise across commercial, educational, retail, aged care, healthcare, and residential typologies, on projects throughout New Zealand. In 2003 I established my own practice in Whitianga, became a member of ADNZ in 2004 and became a Licensed Building Practitioner in 2011. During eleven years in my own practice, Mercury Bay Design, I have been responsible for a number of quality residential and commercial projects with a distinct focus on executive waterfront homes. Since relocating back to Tauranga in 2014, I have worked on a range of significant commercial projects, developed a good understanding of the local market and established strong working relationships with colleagues and industry partners, both local and remote. I actively promote sustainable design practices and environmental considerations in material selection and building performance, acknowledging the designer’s Kaitiaki role.
