A seasoned Compliance and Product Regulatory attorney, since joining Amazon, Genus continues to take on some of our most challenging leadership roles, including serving as the head of legal teams and/or principal attorney for our global operations Environmental Compliance, Dangerous Goods Compliance, Extended Producer Responsibility Compliance, Food and Product Safety and Compliance, and Amazon Private Brands Safety and Compliance. Genus’ leadership roles also include product counseling to Amazon’s Health Services (AHS) organization with particular emphasis on her role as the principal counsel to Amazon Health’s AI initiatives and heading the related legal support for our product AHS engineering team. Having represented Amazon in many North America regulatory engagements and partnerships, Genus draws on her proactive problem-solving approach, which she further developed in private practice.Prior to joining Amazon, Genus focused much of her practice on proactive compliance counseling, as well as strategic advocacy at times of enforcement litigation. With a background in public policy and years of courtroom experience as a litigator, Genus represented clients from a broad array of industries - including manufacturing, health care, technology, energy, real estate, and financial services - in challenges to agency rule-makings, supervisory investigations, complex litigation, and class action lawsuits, as well as civil and criminal enforcement actions brought by federal and state regulatory agencies, state attorneys general, and the Department of Justice (DOJ).
