About Genifer Goldsmith
I am a second-year Postdoctoral Neuropsychology Fellow at UCLA Health, with a focus in geropsychology. I have over 10 years of experience in mental health care, including working as a resident at the Nashville VA Hospital, a clinical trainee in Boston, and an executive manager of a psychiatry nonprofit in Washington, DC. I hold a doctorate from William James University and several certifications in trauma-focused, harm reduction, and child and adolescent needs and strengths approaches. My professional interests and expertise are in the aging brain, neurodegenerative diseases, memory and executive functioning, and working with caregivers of patients diagnosed with dementia. I provide neuropsychological evaluations, psychotherapy, group therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, and training to externs and residents. I have conducted research on genetic analysis of inherited variants and acquired mutations, and biomarker tracking to identify genes and biomarkers for genetic panels. I have delivered multiple presentations on topics related to healthy aging, living with dementia, cognitive functioning in post-menopausal individuals, and obstructive sleep apnea in older adults. I am passionate about advancing the understanding and treatment of complex human behavior and improving the quality of life of older adults and their families.

Second-year Postdoctoral Fellow in a two-year fellowship at UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience & Human Behavior. UCLA’s neuropsychology fellowship program is part of an interdisciplinary research and educational institute devoted to the understanding of complex human behavior, including the genetic, biological, behavioral and sociocultural underpinnings of normal behavior and the causes, phenomenology, and consequences of neuropsychiatric disorders. I work in partnership with the Departments of Psychiatry, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pharmacology, Human Genetics, Neurobiology and other cognate disciplines within the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA to provide excellent neuropsychological clinical services, as well as research to further propel our understanding of neuroscience and behavior, functional neuroanatomy, and the aging brain.
