Hello, my name is Genevieve Oakley. I am a published author, public speaker, and emerging leader committed to using my experiences and skills to strengthen communities, amplify underrepresented voices, and advance human rights on a global scale.I was raised in a military family, which afforded me the opportunity to live in and experience diverse communities around the world. This upbringing not only instilled in me a strong sense of discipline and service, but also sparked a deep and lasting interest in foreign affairs, defense policy, government, and law. Observing both effective and ineffective leadership across different environments shaped my perspective and reinforced my commitment to public service. From an early age, I developed a clear goal: to contribute meaningfully to building a more equitable and responsive society- one that honors both past sacrifices and future generations.Before beginning my university studies, I became a founding member and journalist for Bloom: Empowering the Military Teen, a platform dedicated to supporting an often-overlooked segment of the military community. In 2022, our team was invited to Washington, D.C, where our work was recognized, published, and distributed to schools nationwide. This initiative helped equip educators with the tools and insights necessary to better support military-connected students, marking an early milestone in my commitment to advocacy and education.Today, I am a prouf member of Teach For America, where I continue to pursue my passion for service through education. In this role, I am dedicated to helping students realize their full potential and equipping them with the confidence and skills to shape the future.
