ABOUT GENEVIEVE HODGINS

As a Lead Climate Scientist at Supercritical, I am dedicated to advancing carbon removal initiatives that drive meaningful environmental impact. I lead scientific efforts in biochar and BiCRS (Biochar Carbon Removal and Storage), ensuring the integrity and efficacy of carbon credits through research and quality assessment. My role also extends to supporting assessment and protocol development for innovative engineered Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) solutions, supporting buyers build the best portfolio to meet their climate impact goals. Before joining Supercritical, I managed the UK\'s largest biochar field trial, the GGR-D Biochar Demonstrator, at the University of Nottingham, which tested biochar\'s potential as a scalable greenhouse gas removal technology. This project underscored my commitment to actionable climate solutions and furthered my understanding of biochar’s role in a Net Zero future. My background also includes experience in environmental consulting within the waste management sector, where I worked on quality assessment and carbon sequestration projects for the energy from waste industry. I hold an EngD doctorate from the Carbon Capture and Storage and Cleaner Fossil Energies CDT at the University of Nottingham, which equipped me with a robust foundation in emissions reduction, carbon capture, and sustainable energy solutions. My passion lies in protecting and enhancing the environment, advancing the circular economy, and promoting carbon removals to achieve global Net Zero goals. I’m always interested in connecting with like-minded professionals who share a commitment to sustainable development and transformative climate solutions.
