About Gene Meyer
Veteran journalist with decades in daily journalism, also author of four books, and prolific magazine writer. In the first of what have now been many buyouts at The Washington Post, I always hoped to do more freelancing, and now I am. Open to any and all opportunities and challenges in the writing, editing field.Specialties: Residential real estate, commercial development, off-beat travel, historical stories, education, politics, all subjects within and beyond the Washington-Baltimore region.

This is my d/b/a for my freelance life. I am essentially a one-man word factory, whether writing or editing, using the skills honed over decades of daily newspaper reporting, editing, magazine writing, editing, and researching. I am a fact-sleuth. I can find anyone or anything. I work on deadline - and I deliver the goods, with quality, timeliness, and professionalism. I have produced stories for many publications, including the New York Times, USNews & World Report, Washington Post, Washingtonian, Capitol File, Columbia College Today, AARP, JTA, Preservation, Bethesda Magazine, Maryland Life, RIS Media Real Estate, Chesapeake Bay Magazine, Men\'s Journal. In 2010, I authored a report on citizen journalism in foreign lands for the Center for International Media Assistance in Washington, DC. In 2011, I wrote another report for CIMA on media codes of ethics, and my third report - on media owners and journalism ethics - was published in May 2013. Since December 2009, I have also been the editor of the quarterly B\'nai B\'rith Magazine.
