ABOUT GENE LEE

I was most recently with BDO USA as a Senior Manager consulting, coaching and training nonprofits on a variety of organizational needs including budgeting, planning, developing policies, federal grant compliance, and grants management. Much of my work focused on training and supporting organizations navigate 2 CFR Part 200 and developing compliant policies and procedures. Before BDO, I was the Director of Project Finance and Grants at WGBH Educational Foundation, the largest producer of content for PBS. At GBH, I led a team who managed the pre- and post-award activities for restricted funding. This included grants and funds from the federal government, private foundations, major donors, PBS and CPB.Earlier positions I\'ve held include Assistant Director of the Federal Grants Management Office within the Massachusetts Executive Office for Administration and Finance where I worked to coordinate and maximize billions of Federal grant dollars received by the state. Other organizations include the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, Management Consulting Services, Building Excellent Schools; Citizen Schools, the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, Cambridge Community Services and Kansas City Summerbridge. I have also taught seventh grade English and Asian-American and Ethnic Literature in Kansas City, MO.Between 2016 to 2020, I was elected and had the pleasure to serve as a School Committee member of the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District. I have a Masters of Public Administration degree from the Evans School of Public Policy of the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley.
