ABOUT GENE BODNAR

Practising in the area of civil litigation, Gene has handled a broad range of commercial, insurance, product liability, construction, intellectual property, educational/institutional and other litigation matters. Gene routinely appears in the Alberta courts. He also has handled matters in the courts of Ontario, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, and has made submissions to the Supreme Court of Canada. Gene has acted as counsel in a number of administrative and regulatory hearings, and has been involved in numerous arbitrations and mediations. Gene\'s insurance practice focuses on energy, aviation and professional liability claims. In his commercial practice, he has handled a variety of shareholder disputes, including oppression claims and derivative actions. He also has a great deal of experience obtaining injuctions, Anton Piller Orders and other forms of extraordinary pre-trial relief. Gene has a great deal of experience in matters involving fraud, anti-corruption and asset recovery, examples of which include the following: • Misappropriation of confidential information • Compliance with the Canadian Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act • Tracing and recovery of stolen funds • Employee defalcation and embezzlement • Theft or misuse of intellectual property • Forgery and other fraudulent financial transactions • Internet and e-commerce fraud • Bills of exchange and other banking issues • Fraudulent preferences and conveyances
