ABOUT GEMMA PEARSON

I am Head of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning at Justice and Care, a UK-based charity tackling modern-day slavery. Previous to this, I was a research consultant prioritising evidence-based solutions for social and structural challenges. I have 10 years\' experience in conducting and managing qualitative research projects in humanitarian, development and UK refugee sectors, with a focus on evidencing impact, generating learning and solution-focused recommendations. As a consultant and academic, I have researched 11 country contexts with over a dozen different clients and donors. Before this, I worked in UK charity sector in education, refugee support and debt advice.I hold a PhD in International Development and Childhood Studies from Royal Holloway, University of London, where I also tutored in human geography and sustainable development. I specialise in qualitative research methods, with a growing practice in mixed-methods approaches. I am passionate about empowering communities and advancing social justice through rigorous and ethical research.
