ABOUT GEMMA DAVEY
Hi, I’m Gemma, a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner currently supporting clients at Staffordshire & Stoke-On-Trent Talking Therapies. Here’s a little bit about how I got here… My interest in the world of psychology was sparked in my A Level lessons, which led to me completing a BSc Hons in Psychology at University of Birmingham, graduating in Summer 2021. With the disruption of Covid, I decided I wasn’t quite done with uni yet, so undertook a MSc in Mental Health, also at University of Birmingham. This widened my horizons to a variety of different areas in the psychology field, from service user perspectives to the philosophy and ethics of mental health. 🧠 I knew I wanted to work in mental health and therapy following this degree, but didn’t know where to start- until I discovered the role of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner in NHS Talking Therapies (ex-IAPT) services. It seemed like a perfect fit, so I went for it, and ended up beginning my Trainee PWP year at Staffordshire Talking Therapies in September 2022. After a busy year of juggling working in service and completing the Postgraduate Certificate in Low-Intensity Psychological Therapies, I’m now a qualified PWP - I’m looking forward to continuing to support clients with their mental health, whilst growing my skill set further!
