ABOUT GEMMA BRIDGE

I am passionate about doing research that makes life better for people and communities. As a Senior Research Fellow with NIHR PHIRST South Bank, I lead and support evaluations that help local and national organisations understand what works, for whom, and why - for public health.I also run Bridge Research, a small consultancy with a big mission. I work with a range of other researchers to partner with charities, social enterprises and research teams to design evaluations, carry out qualitative research, and translate evidence into stories and insights that spark action. My recent work ranges from strengthening culturally rooted family interventions to developing toolkits to support young people to have a voice in local decision making. My interests span active travel, community engagement in research and policy, and reducing inequities in health outcomes. Across all projects, I aim to amplify lived experience, strengthen evidence, and support more inclusive decision-making.I love working collaboratively, mentoring early-career researchers, and tackling complex challenges that require fresh thinking. With 40+ publications, academic teaching experience, and speaking experience at conferences across the UK and internationally, I’m committed to making research accessible and impactful.I look forward to connecting and getting to know you!
