ABOUT GEETHIKA RIMMALAPUDI
I am an IT Audit & Cybersecurity professional with a master’s degree in Management Information Systems specializing in Information Systems Audit and Cybersecurity along with a Certificate of advanced study in Information Assurance. I grew up in the southern part of India and moved to the United States, 5 years ago. My journey from an Electrical-Engineer-turned-Software-Developer from India to UB MIS graduate in the US has been an incredible one with a lot of new experiences, travel, and challenges. Prior to my master’s, I worked for a couple of years as a Software Engineer at CenturyLink, Inc.(Bengaluru, India). My stint at CenturyLink introduced me to the space of information security, risk & controls and its importance in a business environment. This passion for helping the businesses understand the why, what, when and how of security, is what has brought me to SUNY Buffalo, where I learned how to leverage technology to not only make things easier but to be safer and more secure. My favorite thing about working in IT audit & security is the fact that I get to help businesses understand how information security fits into the overall business model of the organization, and help protect their business assets. Pursuing IT auditing and cybersecurity has been nothing short of a meaningful life-changer, and I am excited to see where this leads me!
