CUAir is a student-led project team that designs, builds, and tests an unmanned eVTOL with airdrop and autonomous flight capabilities to compete in the AUVSI SUAS competition.• Collaborated with a team of 80+ to design and produce a vertical take-off and landing autonomous aircraft, with a focus on optimizing weight reduction, custom electrical systems, and completing mission functions for competition• Designed and implemented a 2-layer PCB in Altium to control servos for a gimbal, processing orientation data from 2 IMUs and directional commands from a Raspberry Pi at 5 Hz to facilitate 98% image geolocation accuracy• Programmed an ATMega microcontroller in C++ to process I²C sensor input and generate PWM signals for servos• Reduced testing timeline by 80% by developing the board through iterative design reviews & prototyping, integrating test points (chip select, RX/TX, GPIO, power rails), LEDs, and jumper pads for modular debugging
