ABOUT DYLAN RUSSELL
Dylan Russell is a co-founder of Lead for America and the Executive Director of Lead for North Carolina at the UNC School of Government. We aim to recruit, train, and place our most promising recent graduates in local government fellowships in their hometowns and areas struggling to attract and retain talent. Dylan is a Master of Public Administration graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dylan served as the President of the graduate student body at UNC-Chapel Hill and also served as the Student Body President of Appalachian State University. Dylan\'s work is focused on identifying and equipping change agents to serve their communities. He discovered this passion when he served as an intern in the White House during the Obama Administration. He worked for the management team in the Office of Presidential Personnel and helped find qualified candidates to carry out President Obama\'s agenda across the federal government. Dylan is passionate about education. He is a former fifth grade language arts and social studies teacher. Dylan also worked as a researcher and policy analyst at the NC Department of Public Instruction. His research focused on school voucher programs in North Carolina, teacher background checks, and how socio-economic status impacts special education services across the state. Dylan believes that education is the most important asset of a democratic society. Dylan is currently a Ph.D. candidate in public administration at NC State University\'s School of Public and International Affairs. His research interests include public leadership, human capital management, nonprofit / governmental relations, and public management. Dylan is also an adjunct professor at the UNC School of Government and teaches multiple courses in the School\'s Master of Public Administration Program (PUBA 401, PUBA 721, Govt 772). Dylan is a leadership cultivator and community developer at heart. His personal mission statement is to reach others through love and equip them to serve.
