ABOUT GABRIEL COLON-SCIABARRASI
When did you fly by yourself for the first time? For me, I was five years old. As an only child, I grew up in two households; one in my native island of Puerto Rico and the other in Massachusetts. With the constant feeling of being an outsider, especially as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I knew that my career would always be based on community. Of course, the dinner table is where I found community brightest; sharing a meal, allowing yourself to be vulnerable, and ultimately forming an authentic connection. Owning my own restaurant was the absolute dream. Well, I have yet to work in a restaurant, but my career at Boston Beer Company for the last eleven years has shown me how important the many facets of community can be. Starting off at the Sam Adams Boston Brewery, my focus was representing Samuel Adams at all times, bringing that best in class experience to our community of drinkers. Once graduating from Northeastern University, I took a full time role in HR, specifically in Learning and Development. Honing my skills in project management, prioritization and time management, organization, and communication, my community of coworkers was top of mind as I empowered their careers with key developmental experiences and resources. Most recently, I have been able to merge the community of drinkers, coworkers, and partners through my time on Social Impact. As the Social Impact Programs Manager, I have been able to take part in strategic development of programs, partnership and relationship management, and leadership in marketing as we achieve authentic support of our brands and local communities. My career thus far has solidified my passion for achieving key business objectives by building an authentic and value driven culture and community amongst partners, consumers, and coworkers. Through collaboration, creativity, leadership, and a experience-first mentality, I aim to continue to fly my career where I can make a positive impact in the organization and beyond.
