Currently directing BOUNCE, the Basketball Opera, New York premiere June 21st @ Holcombe Rucker Park, Harlem NY, produced by Ardea Arts in partnership with The National Association of Each One Teach OneHolby has directed, choreographed, performed, & collaborated on world premieres at The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center Festival, Houston Grand Opera, La Scala (Milan), and for opera companies from Los Angeles to Philadelphia. An originating cast member of Einstein on the Beach, she has collaborated with artists as diverse as Leonard Bernstein, Lou Reed, Robert Wilson & Yusef Komunyakaa. Founding director of American Opera Projects & Ardea Arts/Opera Out of Bounds, Rockefeller Fellowship recipient, and graduate of MIT, she is credited with “Propelling opera into the 21st century” NPR.

Developed and premiered in partnership with the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre and Ardea Arts, BOUNCE premiered in Lexington, KY in 2017. New York City Community Partners include: the Rucker Pro Legends’ National Association of Each One Teach One; Barclays Center - Brooklyn Nets; Lay The Guns Down; and Gangstas Making Astronomical Community Changes (G.M.A.C.C.). During Harlem Week 2019: BOUNCE partnered with the NYPD 32nd Precinct for “National Night Out Against Crime”; performed at Barclays Center with the NY Liberty; and on Greg Marius Court, Holcombe Rucker Park. BOUNCE will premiere in NYC at Rucker Park on June 21st, 2025, in partnership with Each One Teach One and the Rucker Pro Legends.
