Architecture for an equitable tomorrow:We believe that architecture is as much about people as buildings, and that buildings should be shaped by their surroundings, their role and the people who’ll use them.A community of specialists, people are at the heart of our business. We work with a wide variety of clients from commercial businesses, to cultural organisations, to individuals; and add value by bringing expertise and understanding. Making seemingly complex issues understandable and enjoyable.Buttress is a B Corp. We work to be the best we can, to have a long-term positive impact on the places we create and shape, the people who use them, and the wider communities they support. To be at our best we also work on ourselves as a business with the same passion. We are proud of the culture we have and continue to support and develop it as the practice grows.Being a B Corp commits our business to a ‘triple bottom line’ approach where profit, people and planet are equally important outputs and measures of success. The process has clarified where our biggest impacts are and what we can do about them, mitigating the negative and celebrating the positive. Certification is just the start, becoming a B Corp is a commitment to continual improvement and will run through everything we do at Buttress.We are conscious of the ability we have as architects to create a positive impact and do good through the integrity of our actions: our actions on environmental impacts, community and social impacts, our teams and our customers.In 2022, Buttress became Planet Mark certified. This is an internationally recognised sustainability certification that gives us a metric of our current impact. It helps us understand where we are, and is also a commitment to continual improvement as we undertake our own journey to net zero.
