The Long Beach Neighborhood Foundation is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization committed to organizing and sponsoring athletic events and programs in Long Beach. These events promote community involvement, education, tolerance, and a healthy non-violent lifestyle. All funds generated are used to benefit at risk youth through grants to local programs and through economic development efforts in historically underserved parts of Long Beach. founded this non-profit organization and lead a board of 11 diverse volunteer professionals that I recruited to organize athletic events and programs in Long Beach. We have also built an advisory board of prominent citizens, public figures and elected officials. Since its inception in 2008, our biggest ongoing project has been a 5k/10k & kids run event \"The Wrigley River Run & Tadpole Trot.\" I planned, designed and marketed these events. We started with fewer than two hundred participants our first year but by its fourth year it had grown to become the premier 5k/10k event in Long Beach with participants and proceeds of more than Once this event was established I worked with the local neighborhood association to add a complimentary event the \"Pizza Pig Out\" on the night before. This brings together restaurants from throughout the city who donate their pizza for the event and are then those who attend vote on whose pizza is best.I have recruited sponsors and groups to participate in our events while generating media coverage for our event and our partners.We have annually awarded thousand in scholarships and support for programs for at risk youth.
