Gavin is a Ph.D. candidate at Columbia University, specializing in Biomedical Engineering and Biological Sciences, with a focus on AI-driven research in life sciences. His current research centers on scalable tools, optogenetics, and iPSC-based brain network models, aiming to better understand neurological disorders and improve drug discovery for high-failure-rate diseases and broader human pathologies. Entrepreneurial DriveWith a strong scientific foundation and training in capital markets, healthcare economics, and innovation, Gavin is passionate about translating research into real-world impact. As a teaching fellow in Biomedical Innovation, he mentors students in building prototypes and launching ventures, and was named a finalist for Columbia’s Presidential Outstanding Instructor Award (2023). He has completed multiple internships with biotech and AI-focused venture capital firms. Leadership & Impact Gavin served as a two-time elected University Senator at Columbia, contributing to student affairs, research policy, and external relations. He served as a representative on Board of Trustees committees on Public Affairs and Student Life, and leads initiatives as Chair of the Ph.D. Council. He is also a former CAA board member, bridging academic, institutional, and community engagement.
