How do you use data to find value & mitigate risk?In my career, I’ve answered this question as an in-house legal leader, commercial litigator, & external privacy advisor.I love when legal language and computer language meet. There\'s two ways that happens: Tech Law & Legal Tech. Tech Law falls into two categories. First: the regulation of data creation, collection, transmission, and use. Second: actions taken to realize informational value while complying with regulation. In this domain, I\'ve led a successful organization-wide data mapping project, researched and advised on the applicability of international data privacy laws to products & services, and negotiated Data Protection Agreements.Legal Tech is also pretty self-explanatory. Any software used to make legal operations better, faster, or less expensive can be legal tech. I love learning new systems (my CompSci background just won\'t quit) and working with structured data to streamline processes. Practically, I\'ve developed and optimized various cost-saving tools for privacy operations, e-discovery, knowledge management, and legal/sales operations.
