When I was growing up in Colorado, my parents had absolutely no doubt I\'d be a lawyer. It was not a decision; it was a deduction. Apparently, I exhibited a strong sense of fairness and articulated it, loudly. Often.A continual refrain in the Halligan home:“It’s not fair!”“Save it for when you’re a judge.”I discovered a love of government – or, more accurately, the legislative process - at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Law school was next – University of Denver – where, as my parents predicted, I loved the law. I realized that, someday at least, I wanted to write laws as well.When I graduated, I made the tough choice between criminal or family law. I loved trial work and both offered the opportunity to regularly be in court and litigate, but I chose family law because it fit perfectly with one of my passions – I had been a Victim’s Advocate for the Federal Heights Police Department since law school.Family law was the right choice for the many, many clients Halligan LLC has helped over the years. Family law offers me the chance to “fix things” and “make them right.”In other words, I\'m doing what my parents told me to do, make things fair.

Sometimes, both spouses may have discussed and put off divorce for years – for a variety of reasons – and have finally decided that the time is right. And, every once in a while, someone comes to us because they have noticed changes with their spouse that are concerning and want to explore all their options before a crisis develops.Different people have different situations with different needs and concerns. We are here to guide them toward the best solution. for the best outcome.
