ABOUT GAURI KUMAR

I am a 1979 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Gujarat cadre, with a career spanning over four decades dedicated to public service. My journey in governance has been defined by impactful roles across central and state governments, including serving as Secretary in the Union Ministry of Labour & Employment and the Ministry of Home Affairs, and culminating as Chairperson of the Public Enterprises Selection Board.Academically, I have pursued a Master in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where I was honored with the Littauer Fellowship in recognition of my commitment to public service, academic excellence, and leadership.Post-retirement, I have embraced opportunities to contribute to both governance and the private sector. As an Independent Director, I currently serve on the Boards of leading companies, including Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd, Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd, and TVS Supply Chain Solutions, where I bring strategic insights to enhance organizational growth and sustainability.My dedication to social impact has also led me to entrepreneurial and philanthropic endeavors. As the Founder of an EdTech startup, I am driving an integrated learning platform designed to make quality education accessible at scale, in collaboration with government initiatives. Additionally, as the Founder Trustee of Vayah Vikas, I remain committed to improving the well-being of the elderly in Bengaluru.In the field of education, I contribute as a nominee of the Delhi Public School (DPS) Society, overseeing the governance of six DPS schools in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, ensuring high standards in education delivery.Writing has been a rewarding extension of my professional pursuits. I contributed a chapter titled Industry and Labour to the book Accelerating India: 7 Years of Modi Government, edited by Shri K J Alphons and endorsed by Shri Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of India.I continue to channel my experiences into fostering meaningful dialogue on governance, education, and societal well-being, striving to make a lasting difference in these vital areas of development.
