ABOUT GAURI KANGAI
I am a product-minded, full-stack developer since pivoting into software engineering from product management. I have worked on personalisation and participation experiences at scale for BBC’s most loved user products; built data and experimentation tools to enable BBC product teams to become stronger with A/B experimentation and data-driven decisions, and most recently I was contributing to innovation for the newsroom. At the moment I am developing BBC\'s machine learning platform. My focus is with Spark and ML frameworks and architecture, AWS cloud and Python - although I have former experience in Typescript, React, Java world and especial interest in Google technologies. Currently exploring responsible use of generative AI - please chat to me if you have interests in this!By background, I am a human geographer with a business acumen for technology innovation, bringing with me skills in product, platform and partnerships. Over the last 10 years I have built experience in venture and product, having had the enormous privilege to support over 30 UK tech & data-driven startup businesses across a dozen markets in energy, mobility, property, logistics, health and wellbeing industries, where I began my career in the tech innovation & investment space. In recent years I pivoted into hands-on product management and then engineering, within e-commerce and media.Latest interests: democratising AI for more inclusive and impactful innovation. Always: earnest to level the playing field in tech and entrepreneurship through supporting diversity initiatives, because talent is more or less equally distributed but opportunity is not.Write: https://medium.com/@gauri_kangaiGitHub: https://github.com/allbuttergMember, London Africa Network.
