About Gaurav Tyagi

I am Dr. Gaurav Tyagi, an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean (PG Programs) in the Department of Civil Engineering at SR University, Warangal. My research and teaching focus on sustainable and smart construction materials, emphasizing the valorization of industrial wastes and the development of eco-efficient alternatives for bricks, concrete, and geopolymers.I completed my Ph.D. at BITS Pilani, where my work on nickel-chrome plating sludge reutilization contributed to developing high-performance, environment-friendly bricks and concrete. My postdoctoral experiences at Northwestern University (Illinois, USA) and University of Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania, USA) further expanded my expertise into bacterial concrete and LC3 binder systems, integrating material science with environmental sustainability.I hold two patents, including one on self-purifying pervious concrete, and have published multiple SCI-indexed papers in leading journals such as Construction and Building Materials and Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy.My broader goal is to advance sustainable construction through scientific innovation, life cycle thinking, and circular economy principles—bridging academic research with real-world applications for a cleaner, more resilient built environment.ons.
