ABOUT GASHAW MISAYE MEKONEN
I am an MA student in Applied Economics at Western Michigan University and a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant in the Department of Economics. I currently support research on the health impacts of recreational cannabis legalization, contributing to data collection, econometric analysis (R and Stata), and academic literature reviews. This work has led to co-authorship on a forthcoming paper. I also assist with undergraduate and graduate instruction in microeconomics and health economics.Previously, I worked as an Analyst at the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Institute, where I contributed to policy studies and project design, including small-scale irrigation system assessments for the World Bank Ethiopia, cooperative reform policy analysis, agricultural data system modernization for the Ministry of Agriculture, and a 10-year regional agricultural transformation plan.I am proficient in R, Stata, Python, SQL, Power BI, and the Microsoft Office Suite, and I am seeking full-time roles in consulting, applied research, or data analytics where economic reasoning and empirical evidence inform decision-making.
