Since my appointment as Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire in October 2008, my team and I have successfully raised the profile of Yorkshire at a national and international level.Attracting over 200 million visits a year, tourism in Yorkshire is around £7 billion and working with my team, we work closely with tourism businesses, councils and other partners to grow the county’s visitor economy and make Yorkshire a leading destination.In 2012 through a great team effort we succeeded in bringing the Tour de France to Yorkshire for the Grand Départ 2014.A dynamic and motivational leader I have an excellent track record in brand building and managing complex businesses. After 18 years with Royal Insurance, I built a reputation for turning around businesses.
