About Gary Almes

I\'ve been developing, and managing the development of, enterprise-level interactive Web applications since the early 1990s. I am an unusual and valuable blend of communications expertise, technology understanding and vision, and development skill - and I have worked in all phases of the interactive process, from strategic planning to project/account management to in-the-trenches development. I\'m well-versed in Agile management practices and can manage clients, projects, and/or development teams. I\'m highly-experienced with most modern management tech stacks, such as Jira, Slack, Trello, the Google Suite, etc. I\'m also well-versed with using Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Optimize, and the principles of A/B and Multivariate testing. Development-wise, I am an accomplished MERN and LAMP-stack developer, with deep experience in both back and front-end development. I specialize in object-oriented Javascript and PHP work (via the Laravel framework), with both React and Vue on the client-side, and employing modern dev tools such as Bootstrap/Tailwind/Bulma, SASS, Gulp/Webpack, Git, and more. I\'m also highly fluent w/ both WordPress and Drupal. I can work in both Node and Apache server environments, and with both MySQL and Mongo, with and without ORMs.

   I teach a Full Stack (MERN) Web Development Bootcamp course for EdEx/2U (formerly Trilogy Education Systems) at George Washington University, focused on delivering vital web development skills centered around HTML, CSS, and both client and server-side Javascript, with special emphasis on Node and React.js.Recently selected to record a full series of instructional videos to be used organization-wide as supplementary materials for students.Named one of the organization\'s top instructors for 2020.
