Currie & Brown is one of the world’s leading physical assets management consultancies, dedicated to advising clients in respect of the procurement, construction, management and utilisation of their physical assets. In June 2024, my brilliant team and I were recognised by the Metropolitan Police Service for our achievement in delivering the successful refurbishment of one of their operation suites, by being presented with an MO3 Covert Policing Commendation by their Detective Chief Superintendent. Of the 22 floorplates being refurbished during a four year programme, this floorplate was an extremely complex and undocumented technical area, resulting in it being one of the most difficult to deliver. It took 18 months to scope, plan and deliver the space; the final design taking account of historic public inquiries, which recommended the implementation and use of a dedicated command and control room for high risk surveillance and covert activity for Serious and Organised Crime operations. Since its handover last year, the improved suite, which has additional facilities included in the design to increase operational capability, has resulted in a tripling of the suite’s use by multiple specialist operational teams and has had a large impact in supporting live operations.
