ABOUT GARY ASSIM THEIMAGELAWYER

I advise UK and international companies in the high tech, creative industries and retail sectors on branding, enforcement and international expansion. Covering all aspects of intellectual property issues from the beginning of a concept through to protecting it, enforcing and then exploiting it.I have extensive international cross border experience of advising on Intellectual property rights globally.I am passionate about retail and creative industries, advises a large number of high street names including individual designers, in the clothing, footwear and accessories sector especially, together with car, motorbike and technology brands. I have a special interest in helping European brands with their international growth strategies given my extensive relationships around the world.I am best known for acting for Jimmy Choo, Chloe, H&M and Dr Martens, in well reported cases, as well as setting up the business mentoring scheme for the British Fashion Council to help their NewGen and Fashion Forward designers.I have contributed to the first (2022) and second (2024) editions of the Fashion Law; Law Over Borders Comparative Guide. Covering 20 key jurisdictions it is an invaluable resource to fashion brands.I was included in the Lawyer Hot 100 in 2007, was ranked 34th most important & influential person in fashion by Drapers magazine in its Top 100 in 2008, included in Who\'s Who of International Trade Mark lawyers in 2009 to date, won the Intellectual Property Magazine Award for Innovation in 2010 and received the Global Client Choice award for IP from 2014 to date.In 2018 I was inducted into the Legal 500 Hall of Fame as one of the elite leading lawyers in the UK.Specialties: patents, trade marks, copyright, design rights, know-how and advice on brand management.I was appointed as an Executive Board Member of the global multidisciplinary network, the World Services Group in September 2013 providing a platform to build even stronger relationships internationally with a view to helping brands expand around the world. I became Chairman of the Board of the World Services Group in 2015 becoming Chairman Emeritus the following year. I am currently an officer of the International Bar Associations Law Firm Management Committee as well as a member of its Intellectual Property & Entertainment Committee. I am a lifelong Tottenham Hotspur (COYS) & Raiders (RN4L) fan and love golf, skiing and travelling.
