ARMOR is a professional bulletin published bimonthly by the Chief of Armor at Fort Benning, GA. The publication focuses on the Armor and Cavalry Soldier up to the battalion and brigade level (the micro level) as well as on Army-wide concerns and issues that will affect Armor and Cavalry Soldiers (the macro level). Micro-level articles discuss the training, equipping, employment and leadership of mounted Soldiers. The historical background of mounted warfare can also be a topic, but historical articles should include lessons-learned for modern warfare and analysis that can professionally develop current Armor Branch members. That said, however, writers and readers should keep in mind that ARMOR articles seldom reflect the Army’s official position, nor is the publication’s purpose dissemination of doctrinal or command information – even though ARMOR is a DA-authenticated official publication. As the chief proponent for Armor and Cavalry units in the Army, the Chief of Armor provides a forum for the Soldiers under his proponency to explain, digest or debate Army doctrine, policy or other definitive information; ARMOR is that forum. As that forum, ARMOR provides a means of mission-related professional dialogue between the Armor School and members of the Armor Branch. Armor Branch members are professionally developed from instructions, guidance and other materials contained within ARMOR’s pages.
