My role is to manage the on-going electrical project work for all Apache North Sea assets.Management of the Forties switchboard replacement project which is an online upgrade of the electrical switchboard facilities on a platform by platform basis. The current project value is nine million pounds per platform.Feasibility study, contractor specification, equipment specification and project implementation for a new Satellite bridge link platform. This includes the design review and specification for all associated electrical equipment including two 15MVA Solar Titan generators, 33Kv/11Kv/3.3Kv and 415v switchgear, DGL and production gas compressors and all other associated platform equipment. Management of the installation of over sixty variable speed drives on five platforms. I am considered to be the company authority for all VSD issues including equipment selection, failure analysis, installation philosophy and control methodology.Other projects completed to date include:Upgrade of power system with a 33KV ring linking five platforms. Installation of four new Solar Titan turbines with associated switchgear and transformers and four platform Power management system.VSD driven PWRI pump skids (4off at 3.2Mw, 11kV).Replacement of turbine driven main oil line pumps with VSD driven pumps (3off at 2.2Mw, 11kV).Refurbishment of a medium gas lift compressor skid (415v).Upgrade of 11kv existing circuit breakers from oil to vacuum.Installation of new electro hydraulic Liebher cranes on four platforms.Installation of sixty MV (900/1250KVA) variable speed drives to power subsea ESP’s. Various drive technologies used including Siemens/Robicon, Rockwell and Toshiba.Installation of a three VSD driven medium gas lift compressor skids (3off x 2.2Mw).Replacement of VSD and Motors on two DGL compressors (2.8MW)Electrical operational support on all installations including input into equipment repairs and maintenance management.

Over twenty years offshore experience covering project management, equipment design from concept to installation. I am currently working as an Electrical Project Engineer / Manager for Apache North Sea Limited who own and operate the Forties Field in the UK sector of the North Sea. I am responsible for the installation of all electrical project work on all five platforms (Forties Alpha, Bravo, Charlie Delta and Echo).
