WORK HISTORY
Interim Treasurer @Grain Lng Limited
The company has recently been purchased from National Grid by a JV of Centrica and ECP (Energy Capital Partners, part of Bridgepoint Group). Grain LNG operates the largest LNG terminal in Europe and the eighth largest in the world. The company has previously had most of its business support functions provided by National Grid but now, as a standalone business, we are putting the necessary policies, procedures and operations in place. My role is to establish the treasury function an important part of the overall finance structure particularly given the leveraged nature of the transaction and the need to ensure compliance with sizeable, syndicated debt facilities. Essentially this is a greenfield carve-out and and an exciting project.

SKILLS
ABOUT GARY SLAWTHER
A highly experienced, strategic treasurer, my career focus has been on special situations where the management of financial risk, and in particular the raising of funding and liquidity and management of lender and investor relationships, is critical to meeting the company\'s strategic objectives through periods of change.Working as a member of senior management teams, reporting directly to the CFO or CEO, I always prioritise knowing the detail of the business and operations. Without this understanding of the business it is not possible to assess the real financial risks, the financing requirements and how strategy is to be executed. Gathering such knowledge requires communication with fellow team members and being close to the operations. Strategy, operations and financing are not separate and discrete but need to combine to achieve success. By qualification I am a Fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers and a Chartered Accountant and have spent time working in many regions of the world over a career spanning thirty two years, with the last eight being in the GCC.
