ABOUT GARY SHAW
Gary’s path in post began in 1982 at Gastown Post & Transfer in Vancouver, fresh out of a broadcast-communications program. Post back then demanded fluency in both film and the new digital gear, and he dove into both. After three years he joined the upstart Post Haste Video, where he built a telecine department from scratch, purchased Canada’s first DaVinci color-correction system, and became one of Vancouver’s earliest working colorists.Over the next three decades Post Haste was acquired in turn by LaserPacific, Command Post & Transfer, and finally Technicolor. Through each transition Gary wore a lot of hats—General Manager, then VP of Marketing & Sales—yet he always kept a hand on the control surface as Senior Colorist. He’s graded hundreds of commercials, music videos, documentaries, features, series, and MOWs, bringing a practical, film-and-video fluency to every project and a reputation for calm, detail-driven collaboration. In 2010 he opened Side Street Post, a boutique focused on multi-format conforming, grading, and VFX. In 2024 the studio reintroduced itself as Infinity Post and VFX—an evolution aimed at deeper services, closer partnerships, and the thoughtful adoption of new tools, including AI where it genuinely serves the creative. The goal is simple: combine hard-earned craft with modern workflows so stories look the way they’re meant to look, on any screen.Ask Gary what he does and he’ll still say “colorist.” The titles have changed; the work—helping images feel right—hasn’t.
