ABOUT GARY MOTHERWELL
As a Finance Director I have worked across a range of sectors where I have led and built finance teams, enhanced financial planning, cash flow management, and provided commercial and strategic advice as part of the leadership team. Currently, I am the Finance Director for the law firm, Thompsons Scotland LLP, where I lead strategic planning as well as delivering a series of projects to drive growth and performance. This has included improving working capital management, optimising the legal and financial structure of the firm, and enhancing reporting and financial management to underpin financial performance. Throughout my career, I have consistently sought to drive financial performance through creating a dynamic and commercially focused finance team. This has included embedding the core processes and principles of financial control, identifying and delivering efficiency savings, and being a trusted commercial partner across the organisation. I am passionate about staff training and development and champion the team to continue to increase their professional development and build their capability. I advocate a growth mindset and have completed an MBA to further my own knowledge and expertise. In addition to this I volunteer with the ICAS Foundation where I provide guidance and support to disadvantaged students progressing through university. I am also a Committee Member for the ICAS Quality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee where I advocate and support for improvements and creation of policies, processes and initiatives which place ED & I at the heart of ICAS activities. I am a committed professional where I enjoy networking while giving back to the professional community, I am part of.
