About Gary Hoffman
Semi-retired. No longer caretaker of my brother who has parkinson\'s (passed 3/27/23)+ part-time musician. Currently planning on converting my 16 acres in WV to a small farm.No longer looking for a job at a tech company. I feel like many tech companies don\'t provide a good work/life balance and have encountered this in many companies over 4 decades (working 50 to 70 hours a week). I want to work to live, not live to work! Here\'s my latest tech company experience shown below.My contract ended suddenly 8/31/21 (no notice) with the Judge Group at Quest Diagnostics on their ESOTERIC Chantilly LIS (Laboratory Information System). This work required working on medical devices in the lab during covid testing. I put my life on the line but my work was sent off shore after 2 years having the biggest profits ever for Quest. Medical hero to zero. I am sad this work has been sent offshore but I want to concentrate on one huge positive aspect from my work at Quest. My work had a positive influence on test accessions PER DAY (over 27 million per year) including many COVID tests which I hoped saved lives! The work on medical devices required you to be in the office in Chantilly so doesn\'t make sense that someone offshore can do this work. It\'s plain to see someone up the line needs a BIGGER bonus again because the decision makes no sense from a practicality standpoint. This is the THIRD and final time this will happen to me. I am not planning on going back to Quest Diagnostics.Previously worked on a contract with Alta I.T. Services as Sr Systems Engineer (Leidos FAA ERAM). This was a FANTASTIC job/experience! ALTA / FAA had a great working environment!
