ABOUT GARY MUYUAN GAO

Full-stack Software Engineer with experience building and improving user-facing flows and the backend systems that support them in production environments. I enjoy working across frontend and backend boundaries, especially on critical paths like login, signup, and data synchronization, where performance, reliability, and user experience intersect.At Prodigy Education, I worked on authentication and identity-related flows, contributing to login and signup experiences, experimentation, and downstream data handling. My work spanned Ruby on Rails and Node.js backends, GraphQL APIs, and frontend integrations, with a focus on diagnosing real production issues using Datadog and Sentry. I’ve optimized performance on hot paths, resolved Sev-1 incidents, and improved the reliability of systems such as Clever district sync and asynchronous event processing.I’m comfortable working end-to-end: understanding how frontend behavior drives backend load, how data flows through distributed systems, and how to measure and improve outcomes using observability tools. I also enjoy collaborating with QA and cross-functional teams to improve testing strategies and system understanding.I’m currently seeking a Full Stack SDE II role where I can continue owning features end-to-end, improving core user flows, and growing in system design within a collaborative engineering team.
