About Gary Cohen

Currently serving as consulting attorney and strategic business advisor to companies at the intersection of life sciences, digital health, and technology/robotics/sensors, Gary Cohen is co-founder of Humatics, a Waltham, Massachusetts-headquartered technology company; he served as its president from inception through seed and initial financings, acquisitions and remarkable growth. Gary has 38+ years’ experience as an entrepreneur, corporate executive, lawyer, intellectual property strategist, mentor and advisor. From October 2023 to March 2025, Gary served as a Consulting Attorney to Koneksa Health, Inc. Earlier, before co-founding Humatics, Gary worked with leading health technology companies — in devices, diagnostics and biopharmaceuticals — from venture-backed startups, to early-stage research and development organizations, through mature corporations with marketed products. Gary has held significant positions at paradigm-changing organizations, including Genetics Institute, Genzyme Transgenics, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Foundation Medicine and others; he continues to consult for healthcare, robotics and technology companies. A dedicated teacher and mentor, from 20••••08 Gary taught biotechnology business law and intellectual property, and bioindustry ethics, to graduate students at the Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences in Claremont, California; Gary also has taught contracts drafting to LLM students in the American Law Program at the Boston University Law School. He is a member of the National Council for the Washington University in St. Louis School of Public Health. Previously, he served on the Dean’s Advisory Board at the Boston University School of Public Health, from which he received an MPH in 2006 (focusing on health law, bioethics and human rights). Gary also has chaired the School of Public Health’s idea hub Advisory Board — the idea hub connects private industry with the school to accelerate the introduction of new products and services to improve population health. Gary was a founding/longtime board member at The Possible Zone, a Boston-area non-profit that uses entrepreneurship as a framework to close the skills and opportunities gap facing young people with untapped potential. Gary has a JD from Columbia Law School and an AB from Washington University in St. Louis. Earlier in his career, Gary studied in Beijing and practiced law in Tokyo.
