I retired after 31 years of teaching, my last 28 years was in the Fort Osage School District located about 5 miles east of Independence, Mo. I began working at KCPT in January 2005 as a sales representative and in January 2007 I was placed in as the Director of K-12 Educational Media Services. Since 2007 I have been working hard to increasing the number of school districts. The current number is over 50 school districts. From the smallest ones of less than 200 students to the largest ones of nearly students in and around the Kansas City Mo area.The position has added the KCPT Reads Program. This program provides books to under-served children in the Kansas City area. Currently we distribute over 3,500 books per month.

ABOUT GARY BROCK

As Director of Education at KCPT my goals are to provide professional development and digital streaming services that will enhance the teaching experience for our member districts. KCPT provides two outstanding video streaming services, Learn360 and PBS LearningMedia. Both of these fine video streaming services provide teachers with the necessary media to enhance their classrooms. By providing professional training, teachers begin to see the importance of integrating video into their daily lesson plans. Currently we have 42 districts, students and teachers accessing our services.KCPT provides early childhood programs and workshops as well. We provide four workshops each year to early childhood providers with trainers from the Family Conservancy. Our attendance has been over 40 each time. KCPT provides a literacy program called the Martha Speaks Reading Buddies program. This program is in 6 area elementary schools working with over 700 students and distributing 3,900 books. The program has 4th graders as Big Buddies mentoring kindergartners as Little Buddies.Specialties: Media integration in the classroom Early childhood literacy workshopsElementary literacy programs
