About Gary Beam

My background is forty-years (42) of experience working for the Allen County Courts in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It began in 1982 as an intern at the Wood Youth Center detention facility (current name of Allen County Juvenile Center), where I was hired and worked in the positions of youth care worker, shift-leader, and transportation officer. This involved 9 years of working with at-risk juveniles who had broke the law and were consequently detained in a secure setting. I completed my undergraduate degree at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne (IPFW) and was hired in 1991 as a probation officer, where I worked as an intake officer, detention alternative program officer, and electronic monitoring supervisor over a 20 year career with the Allen County Superior Court. This rewarding experience allowed me to work on my Master\'s Certificate in Public Affairs (IPFW), work at the state level in Indianapolis (6 years) on the Probation Advisory Board, become a certified trainer for the Indiana Youth Assessment System (IYAS) and join the Indiana Tech criminal justice staff in 2006 as an adjunct instructor. In 2022, I was invited to instruct criminal justice courses as an adjunct with the University of Saint Francis Fort Wayne. In 2012, I moved over to the Allen Circuit Court in my current position, Adult Probation Investigator/IDACS Coordinator/Intern Recruiter.
