About Gary Andrews
Mr. Andrews is the General Manager & CEO of DeTect, Inc. of Panama City, Florida (US small business). He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Texas Tech University (1980) and for the past 30 years has held various executive positions with US and European engineering, environmental and manufacturing firms. Since 1997, he has managed development of radar systems for aircraft birdstrike avoidance, environmental management, meteorology and security supporting aviation safety and environmental projects worldwide. In 2003, he was a founding partner in DeTect, which today is the world leader in development, manufacture and support of specialized avian radar systems that include the MERLIN™ Aircraft Birdstrike Avoidance Radar system that is currently used by the US Air Force, NASA and commercial airports for automated, real-time detection, tracking and warning of bird activity that could be hazardous to aircraft. MERLIN is the only production model bird radar system in use by air traffic controllers, airport managers and bird control units for tactical birdstrike risk avoidance and management. To date, over 80 MERLIN systems have been delivered to customers in the U.S, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Africa, Asia and New Zealand supporting aviation safety and environmental applications.
