To take primary responsibility for ensuring that all health and safety measures are implemented, monitored, and enforced on site as the Principal Contractor, in full compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) and all other relevant health and safety legislation.Key Responsibilities: • Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety throughout all phases of the construction project. • Develop and implement the Construction Phase Plan (CPP) and ensure it is kept up to date. • Ensure all contractors and subcontractors are provided with site-specific inductions and relevant safety information. • Oversee site safety arrangements, including signage, access control, welfare facilities, and traffic management. • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to safe working practices. • Ensure all risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and permits to work are in place and followed. • Coordinate emergency procedures and ensure first aid arrangements are maintained. • Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and ensure ongoing communication of safety expectations. • Report accidents, near misses, and unsafe practices through proper reporting procedures (e.g. RIDDOR). • Collaborate with the Client and Principal Designer to ensure pre-construction information is considered and managed appropriately. • Maintain all safety documentation for inspection by the HSE or other regulatory authorities.Key Skills and Competencies: • Strong understanding of CDM 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and other applicable regulations. • Excellent leadership and communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple contractors and ensure cohesive site coordination. • Strong organisational and documentation abilities. • Proactive approach to hazard identification and risk mitigation.Qualifications and Experience: • NEBOSH General Certificate • working towards NVQ level 6
