About Garry He
Garry A. Harris is the President of the Sustainability Solutions Group and Institute (SSGI), an advisory and consulting firm that provides a range of services in sustainability, energy engineering, and community development. The SSG & I consists of two organizations: Center for Sustainable Communities, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit dedicated to making communities cleaner, greener, healthier, safer, and more climate-resilient, and HTS Enterprise, through its five (5) divisions, which provides energy engineering, policy, research, and education. Mr. Harris has worked tirelessly to advance numerous local, regional, and statewide coalitions. He manages a broad portfolio of projects and programs, and special initiatives. SSG & I uses JUST Science, applying science, engineering, technology, data science, and research to create JUST Solutions to mitigate racial, social, health, climate, and environmental disparities in underserved communities. Mr. Harris has an extensive history of work in the energy sector, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, and nuclear energy. Mr. Harris is a graduate of the 2009 Class of Leadership Atlanta, 2013 Class of the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership, 2014 Class of the Regional Leadership Institute, 2016 Environmental Justice Leadership Academy,(2012) graduate of the Climate Reality Corps Leadership Program (2012), and the (2025) Class of the Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) Mr. Harris has earned numerous technical credentials and certifications in energy, environmental fields hold a BS in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Virginia, an MS in Technology Management (Southern College of Technology) and an MS in Quality Systems Engineering (Southern Polytechnic State University) both now known as Kennesaw State University and a MS in Sustainable Energy and Environmental Management at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has won numerous awards and recognition for his work, including the Westinghouse Award of Excellence, NTA Samuel R. Ceavers Distinguished Service Award, and the James C. Jones Humanitarian Award and Man of the Year (Omega Psi Phi Fraternity)Mr Harris has founded and assisted in the formation and support of research and humanitarian centers of excellence and special initiatives, including the National Environmental Justice Institute ( NEJI), HERCULES, and CHART NIH (community participatory research), and Institute for Coastal Adaptation and Resilience (ICAR)( community advisory board) and Tech Academy ( workforce), SMART Academy Center of Excellence (youth)
